RATINGS RAT RACE: 'Supernanny' Premiere Helps ABC Gain On Friday

No major moves on Friday, though ABC continues to strengthen its lineup and is challenging CBS for the top position in the demo on the night. After successfully introducing Primetime: What Would You do? in the 9 PM hour once earmarked for new drama procedural Body of Proof, ABC last night added Supernanny at 8 PM where it had been airing repeats of its new series for additional sampling. In its season premiere, the veteran reality series (1.2/4, 4.8 million) was up by 9% in 18-49 and by 7% in total viewers from its opener last fall. With Primetime (1.7/6) and 20/20 (1.6/5) flat with last week, ABC finished the night with an average of 1.7 in 18-49, two tenths behind leader CBS.

At CBS, Medium (1.5/5, 6.9 million) was up by a tenth from last week. CSI: NY (2.0/6, 10.4 million) was up by 11% and ranked as the top program of the night in 18-49 and total viewers, while Blue Bloods (1.7/6, 10.2 million) hit a low.

Fox’s lineup was up: House repeat (1.0/4) was up 25%, The Good Guys (0.8/3) was up a tenth, or 14%. NBC was status quo: School Pride (0.6/2, 2.3 million), once again the lowest program of the night in 18-49 and total viewers), and Dateline (1.3/5), both even with last week’s deliveries.

At the CW, Smallville (1.1/4, 2.6 million) was down a bit while Supernatural (1.1/4, 2.4 million) was on par.
