Stream On: 2014 Streamy Nominees Announced With Freddie Wong Schooling The Field

Nominees for the fourth Streamy Awards have been announced, with Freddie Wong and other principals from his Video Game High School and Rocket Jump online video shows clearly dominating the nominating with 11 nominations among nearly four-dozen categories.

In all, the Streamys this year will recognize excellence in 47 categories of online video of many different sorts, from 6-second Vines to long-form video on various online platforms and even a set of five traditional TV shows that are “doing it right” with online video, including The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and late-night competitors Jimmy Kimmel Live and Conan.

Sixteen of the winners will be announced live in a Sept. 7 ceremony at the Beverly Hilton, to be produced by dick clark productions, with sponsors including Coca-Cola and Samsung. The awards will, naturally, stream online on www.streamys.org. The other winners will be announced in a Sept. 4 reception at the YouTube Space L.A., and will be recognized during the Sept. 7 ceremonies.

“If the caliber of this year’s nominees is any indication, we’re on track for the biggest Streamys ever,” said Executive Producer Drew Baldwin, also the co-founder of Tubefilter. “As the leading producer of live events, dick clark productions is the best possible partner for a show that honors the ever-evolving digital landscape and pioneers who are shaping the future of mainstream entertainment.”

This year’s awards include several new categories, including gaming, beauty, sports, pranks and science and education. Notable other nominees include David Arquette and Julia Stiles and such online properties and stars as Mortal Kombat: Legacy II, Mamrie Hart, Grace Helbig, Jenna Marbles, Ryan Higa, Hannah Hart’s My Drunk Kitchen, The Lizzie Bennet Diaries, Interactive Emmy winner Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee from Sony’s Crackle, Pew Die Pie, Epic Rap Battles of History,YouTube Nation from DreamWorks Animation‘s AwesomenessTV,  VSauce, DevinSupertramp and Michelle Phan. Here’s a list of the nominees by category.
