Miranda Otto Boards HBO Pilot ‘Westworld’

HBO drama pilot Westworld has added another boldface name to the cast. Lord Of The Rings alumna Miranda Otto has joined the project, from J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot, Person Of Interest creator Jonathan Nolan, writer Lisa Joy, producer Jerry Weintraub and Warner Bros TV. She joins previously cast Ed Harris, Anthony Hopkins, Evan Rachel Wood, James Marsden, Thandie Newton and Jeffrey Wright. Inspired by Michael westworldCrichton’s 1973 sci-fi movie set at an amusement park, Westworld is described as a dark odyssey about the dawn of artificial consciousness and the future of sin. Otto will play Virginia Pittman, the head of the Quality Assurance department whose brutal honesty with her colleagues and her ruthless efficiency in dealing with malfunctioning “property” have made her a formidable and unpredictable power player in Westworld. Also cast in Westworld to date are Rodrigo Santoro, Shannon Woodward, Kyle Bornheimer, Ingrid Bolsø Berdal, Angela Sarafyan, Simon Quarterman, Eddie Rouse, Demetrius Grosse, Currie Graham, Lena Georgas, Steven Ogg and Timothy Lee DePriest. Otto, repped by Gersh, Management 360 and UK’s United Agents, recently co-starred on Fox’s Rake and is coming out in the feature The Horseman.
