‘Dark Knight’ Scribe David S. Goyer Quits WGA Board

Citing “personal reasons,” David S. Goyer has resigned his seat on the WGA West board of directors. The Batman v Superman and Dark Knight writer’s resignation affects the guild’s ongoing board election by making one more seat available to the 18 candidates seeking election. Before his resignation, only eight board seats were being contested, but now the ninth-highest vote-getter will fill out the remaining year of Goyer’s term. “He will be missed,” said a guild official.

Goyer is one of the industry’s busiest superhero scribes. His many writing credits include Batman Begins, Man Of Steel and the upcoming Batman v. Superman: Dawn Of Justice. He also co-wrote the stories for The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises.

The WGAW will host its annual Candidates Night forum Sept. 3 at the guild’s L.A. headquarters, where members can meet and pose questions to board hopefuls. Balloting ends Sept. 16.
