Dame Helen Will Bring Queen Liz II To Broadway In Peter Morgan’s ‘The Audience’

It’s deja vu all over again as Oscar winner Helen Mirren reprises her above-the-title performance in Peter Morgan’s The Audience on Broadway in beginning February 17, 2015 and opening March 8. Stephen Daldry directs. Mirren won the Olivier Award for the part and, of course, landed an Oscar for playing the same royal in The Queen (which Morgan also scripted). Play will run at the Shubert-owned Schoenfeld Theatre, for a limited run through June 28.

"The Hundred-Foot Journey" New York PremiereMirren’s latest film is Disney’s The Hundred-Foot Journey directed by Lasse Hallstrom and produced by Stephen Spielberg and Oprah Winfrey, in which she portrays French restaurateur Madame Mallory.

The Audience comes to Broadway following a record-breaking run at London’s Gielgud Theatre in 2013. The performance will mark Mirren’s Broadway debut in a contemporary play. She was last seen on Broadway in 2001’s Dance Of Death revival and also starred in 1995’s A Month In The Country. (more…)
