Brian Williams’ ‘Tonight Show’ Rap Trumps NY Mayor Bill de Blasio’s ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’ Crooning: Video

Having been given plenty of notice that some mayor or another would be butchering some pop tune on ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live once the winner of the Stanley Cup was announced, NBC’s Tonight Show was able last night to trot out another of its popular Brian Williams clip-job raps — this time performing Sir Mix-A-Lot’s heinie-homage, Baby Got Back. Viewers seem to have preferred Williams’ performance to New York Mayor Bill de Blasio‘s rendition of Randy’s Newman’s treacle tune, I Love LA, settling his Stanley Cup bet with LA Mayor Eric Garcetti.  In Nielsen’s 56 metered markets, household results were: NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon (2.7/7); CBS’s Late Show With David Letterman  (2.0/5), and Jimmy Kimmel Live (1.7/4). In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: Fallon (1.1/5), JKL (0.5/2) and Letterman (0.3/1).
