Hollywood Teamsters Boss Warns Drivers About Rise In On-Set Fistfights – Really

Fistfights among Teamsters on film and TV productions in Hollywood are giving the union a black eye, says the head of the union’s Hollywood local. Brawling among union drivers has gotten so bad, in fact, that Steve Dayan, secretary-treasurer of Teamsters Local 399, has warned his members that they’ll be fired if they keep it up. He posted this memo to the local’s website yesterday:

TeamstersLocal399Due to the escalating number of incidences being reported, I must take a moment to address the Membership. We are finding that more and more Members are fighting with one another on set. It is my duty to say – Knock It Off!

When two Members get into an altercation we have found that in order to remedy the situation quickly BOTH Members will immediately be LAID-OFF. Whether you were the one to instigate the situation or not you will both be released from the job.

If either party has an issue that cannot be resolved amongst yourselves, call the Union first and we’ll have a meeting at the hall with both parties to resolve the issue. (more…)
