Mikael Salomon Tapped To Helm Iran-Contra Thriller ‘Angel’s Paradise’

Oscar-nominated and Emmy-winning cinematographer Mikael Salomon (The Abyss, Hard Rain, Band of Brothers) has been set to direct political thriller Angel’s Paradise for King’s Indian Productions and Dogs on the Roof Productions. Based on actual events, the 1980s-set pic tracks the mysterious torture and murder of a wire service reporter during the Salvadoran civil war whose death leads to the uncovering of the Iran-Contra affair. Script is by award-winning journalist, author, and documentarian Paul VanDevelder. Linus Hume and Peter E. Jackson are producing the film and DOTR’s Meg McWhinney and David Ohnona are co-producers. Raymond Chavez and Ted Garcia are exec producers on the pic.

Filming is slated to begin in Summer 2015 in Puerto Rico, setting Angel’s Paradise up to debut around the 30th anniversary of the Iran-Contra scandal in which the Reagan administration supplied arms to Iran. (more…)
