ABC Family’s ‘Ravenswood’ Cancelled After One Season

I’ve learned that ABC Family has opted not to renew the Pretty Little Liars spinoff series Ravenswood for a second season. The project received a straight-to-series order from the previous ABC Family regime and had a solid launch behind the Pretty little Liars’ Halloween special in October with 2.1 million viewers. But, with no PLL lead-in, the series lost momentum, dropping to a 1.1 million for its fall finale. By the time it was paired again with PLL in January, Ravenswood couldn’t regain its ratings footing, opening its January mini-season with 1.7 million viewers, half of the 3.2 million viewers for its lead-in, PLL. Set in the fictional town of Ravenswood, Pennsylvania, Ravenswood followed five strangers whose lives become intertwined by a deadly curse. Nicole Gale Anderson, Tyler Blackburn, Steven Cabral, Brett Dier, Britne Oldford and Merritt Patterson starred. This marks the first cancellation decision for ABC Family under new president Tom Ascheim, who took over in December.
