EXCLUSIVE: Oscar winner Vic Armstrong is back in the director’s chair. The British action helmer has signed to direct true-life equestrian tale The Sunday Horse. The pic is inspired by the story of Debi Connor, a rider from the wrong side of the tracks who overcomes prejudice and a near-fatal accident to become the U.S. champion jumper on a horse that all the experts dismissed as untalented. Written by Fred T. Kuehnert, the movie will be produced by Ronnie Clemmer and co-produced by John Duffy. Casting is set to begin soon, with filming scheduled to begin in Atlanta in late spring. Armstrong is coming off the just-wrapped Left Behind, starring Nicolas Cage, Chad Michael Murray and Lea Thompson, about a group of survivors who remain alive after a worldwide catastrophe.
