‘Hemlock Grove’s Penelope Mitchell Cast In Two Films; Joanna Cassidy Joins ‘Visions’; Leslie Hope Added To ‘Crimson Peak’

Penelope Mitchell has landed a pair of roles in upcoming films, joining the cast of the Darren Aronofsky-produced Zipper opposite Richard Dreyfuss, Patrick Wilson and Lena Headey and after that taking on Chris Fitchett’s supernatural thriller The Fear Of Darkness.¬†Written and directed by Mora Stephens, Zipper centers on Sam Ellis (Wilson), a successful family man who presumably has it all until he risks losing everything due to his inability to fight off his obsessive temptation for other women. Mitchell will play Laci, a troubled, emotionally fragile young escort who develops an unusual and strong connection with Sam. Darkness centers on a brilliant young psychiatrist who, while investigating the supernatural disappearance of a university student (Mitchell), is forced to confront the dark creature that dwells deep within her own unconscious. Shooting is scheduled to begin on the Gold Coast next month. Aussie Mitchell just wrapped a role in Blumhouse’s Curve; on the TV side, she starred on the first season of Eli Roth’s Netflix series Hemlock Grove and had an arc on the CW’s The Vampire Diaries. She is repped by APA, Brillstein Entertainment Partners and JM Agency in Australia. (more…)
