RATINGS RAT RACE: Season Premieres Down For Returning NBC's 'Parenthood' & CW's 'One Tree Hill' & 'Life Unexpected'

The trend of returning series debuting lower this season that started with CW’s America’s Next Top Model, Vampire Diaries, Gossip Girl, and 90210, continued last night with the season debuts of NBC’s Parenthood and the CW’s One Tree Hill and Life Unexpected. Parenthood (2.7 rating/8 share in adults 18-49, 7.7 million viewers overall) was down 13% in the demo from its heavily promoted midseason premiere. It was also down 29% from its America’s Got Talent lead-in. It still won the 10 PM by a large margin and logged its second largest audience ever. CW’s One Tree Hill (2.2 million, 1.3/5 in 18-34) was down 12% from last season’s premiere, (more…)
