Liana Liberato Joins ‘The Best Of Me’; Chilean Miner Pic ‘The 33’ Adds Bob Gunton

EXCLUSIVE: Liana Liberato (Stuck in Love, Trust) has been cast in Relativity’s The Best Of Me, the Nicholas Sparks romance that James Marsden joined earlier this month replacing the late Paul Walker opposite Michelle Monaghan. Liberato will play the younger version of Monaghan’s character Amanda in the tale of two former high school sweethearts who reunite 20 years later in their hometown for the funeral of an old friend. The novel adaptation is directed by Michael Hoffman (The Last Station) from a script by J. Mills Goodloe, Will Fetters, and Hoffman. This is the third Sparks pic at Relativity after last year’s Safe Haven and 2010’s Dear John. Liberato’s upcoming projects include If I Stay and Dear Eleanor. She’s repped by CAA and Management 360.

Bob Gunton (ArgoThe Shawshank Redemption) has joined the cast of the now-filming Chilean miner drama The 33. Earlier this week Gabriel Byrne boarded the true story pic playing Andre Sougarret as part of an international cast that includes Antonio Banderas, Juliette Binoche, and Rodrigo Santoro. Gunton will play Chilean President Sebastián Piñera. The film is shooting in Colombia before it heads to Chile. Patricia Riggen is directing. Gunton is repped by Abrams Artists Agency.
