UPDATE: Disney Channel Movie ‘Cloud 9’ Draws 5M Total Viewers; Lifetime’s ‘Flowers In The Attic’ Attracts 6.1M

UPDATE, 3:15 PM: Disney Channel‘s latest original movie Cloud 9 premiered Friday and pulled in 5 million total viewers, ranking as the night’s No. 1 cable telecast in total viewers. It drew 2.6 million in the kids 2-11 demo and 2.1 million kids 6-11, making it second-highest TV telecast season-to-date. It also was the No. 2 cable telecast among tweens (1.8 million/7.3 rating), behind the network’s Good Luck Jessie: NYC Christmas back in November. Cloud 9, which stars Dove Cameron and Luke Benwar, led into the debuts of new comedy series I Didn’t Do It which landed 3.9 million total viewers, and a sample of new game show Win, Lose Or Draw which followed with 2.8 million viewers.

Also on the original movie front, Lifetime said today it is moving the premiere date of The Trip To Bountiful starring Cicely Tyson, Vanessa Williams, Blair Underwood. and Keke Palmer. The adaptation of Horton Foote’s play was to bow February 22 but was shifted to Saturday, March 8 at 8 PM, where the network thought it would do better competitively.

PREVIOUS, 12:30 PM: Lifetime’s broadcast Saturday of its TV movie Flowers In The Attic was seen by 6.1 million total viewers, the network’s best original movie performance since the premiere of Steel Magnolias drew 6.5 million viewers in October 2012. (more…)
