The 49ers-Packers playoff, held at some pretty historic subzero temperatures, heated up Fox‘s primetime last night to a nightly win among adults 18-49 and total viewers. Fueled by NFL overtime, which drew more than 40 million viewers, the Hollywood-themed Simpsons, featuring Judd Apatow (pictured), Leslie Mann, Seth Rogen, Channing Tatum and Will Arnett, pulled in a season high 5.2 18-49 preliminary rating, up 46% from its last original on December 15, which will likely be adjusted down as Fox’s animation block was delayed until 8:07 PM. The results for the other Fox toon comedies also are approximate — Bob’s Burgers (3.2, up 33%), Family Guy (3.0, even) and American Dad (2.5, up 4%).
ABC got some encouraging news last night as its Sunday staple America’s Funniest Home Videos (1.6) climbed 14% from its last original to set a new season high mark against the huge football game. The preview special for the upcoming season of The Bachelor, Countdown To Juan Pablo, received solid sampling (1.8), and Revenge (1.8) was up 20% in its return to originals. No bump for Betrayal (0.8), but that show is just finishing its run. Without a football lead-in, CBS’ 60 Minutes (1.2) was down 43% from its last original to a season low. With an Elementary rerun instead of original Amazing Race as a lead-in, The Good Wife (1.4) was down 13% from its fall finale, while The Mentalist (1.5) was down 17%. (more…)
