R.I.P. Actor Kumar Pallana

Kumar Pallana was a favorite of director Wes Anderson, who cast the India native as the butler in The Royal Tenenbaums after he’d appeared in the director’s Rushmore and Bottle Rocket. Pallana, who later acted in Anderson’s The Darjeeling Limited, died October 10 at 94. He also had a memorable role as a janitor in the 2004 Tom Hanks film The Terminal. He was first seen on U.S. television during the mid-’50s on You Asked For It and later appeared as Kumar of India on The Mickey Mouse Club and Captain Kangaroo. He also had uncredited roles in film westerns. After appearing in the Anderson films, Pallana acted in features and shorts, and most the Danny Trejo film Snap Shot, which is in production. Survivors including son Dipak Pallana, who also appeared in Royal Tenenbaums, Rushmore and Bottle Rocket.
