Deadline revealed yesterday that Sony had offered the top domestic marketing job to Dwight Caines and the studio just made it official. Caines might well be the very first marketing head at a major studio to come from the digital marketing division. Here’s the release:
Sony Pictures Entertainment today announced that it has named Dwight Caines as President of Theatrical Marketing for the Columbia TriStar Motion Pictures Group. Caines will report to Jeff Blake, Vice Chairman, Sony Pictures Entertainment and Chairman, Worldwide Marketing and Distribution. Caines will continue to oversee worldwide digital marketing for the studio, working closely on theatrical marketing with Nigel Clark, President of Marketing for Sony Pictures Releasing International, who will now also report to Blake.
Caines has served as head of the studio’s global digital motion picture marketing since 2005, leading all strategic planning, creative and campaign development including website implementation, media placement, social media and integration of third party promotions. (more…)
