NBC’s ‘Hollywood Game Night’ Renewed For Second Season

EXCLUSIVE: NBC has given a second-season, 10 episode-renewal to summer alternative series Hollywood Game Night, the first broadcast freshman unscripted series this summer to get a pickup. The game show, hosted by Jane Lynch and executive produced by Sean Hayes and Todd Milliner, will return for a second cycle next summer or sooner. Based on Hayes’ real-life game nights, Hollywood Game Night airs on Thursdays where “it has done pretty respectably,” NBC president of alternative and late-night programming Paul Telegdy said. The inexpensive series has exceeded what incumbent repeats had done in the time slot. “Not only is it a show we’re very proud of, it is easy watching and fun, and the repeats have been holding up quite well, retaining 85% of the premiere ratings, a quality we’re looking for”, he said. Also playing a major part in the renewal decision was host Lynch. “We think we’ve found something really special with Jane Lynch,” Telegdy said. “She is someone who beyond fits the NBC family of talent on personal level and in terms of who she is and what she stands for; she is all kinds of awesome.” (more…)
