RATINGS RAT RACE: ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ Down, ‘America’s Got Talent’ Dips, ‘Extreme Weight Loss’ Ties High, ‘Whose Line Is It Anyway?’ Up

There were no original dramas in primetime last night but there was a lot of drama on TV. With two more contestants eliminated Tuesday, they’re down to the Top 10 on So You Think You Can Dance (1.3/4). Choreographer Kenny Ortega joined Nigel Lythgoe and Mary Murphy at the judge’s table as the two-hour show saw Malece Miller and Alan Bersten sent home. While dipping a bit to 4.04 million viewers, SYTYCD also saw a drop of 13% from its July 30 among adults 18-49.

Over on NBC, America’s Got Talent (2.5/7) also saw a bit of a downward turn. The live two-hour third round of contestants trying to get in the semifinals slipped 7% from last week’s show. However, AGT was still the highest rated and most watched show of the night with 6.29 million viewers. In their 9 PM to 10 PM match-up hour, AGT triumphed over SYTYCD with the NBC show garnering a 2.3 rating over the Fox show’s 1.3 rating result among adults 18-49. The former had 8.800 million viewers to the latter’s 3.714 million. NBC won the night among adults 18-49 with a 2.0/6 and in terms of total viewers with 7.433 million watching. Univision came in second in the demo with a 1.3/4 while an all repeat and Time Warner Cable blacked out in NY, LA and Dallas CBS came in second in viewers with 6.251 million watching.

Even with last week’s show, Extreme Weight Loss (1.2/4) tied a season high last night. The ABC show matched its July 30 and May 28 results in the demo. With 3.89 million viewers last night, Tuesday’s Extreme Weight Loss also had its best audience since the 3.9 million who watched its June 25th show.

The CW’s reboot of Whose Line Is It Anyway? (0.9/3) was up 13% from last week’s 8 PM show. In its second week, Capture (0.3/1) saw a small 4% rise in viewers to 970,000 watching but a double digit fall among the key demo. The competition series slide 25% among the 18-49s from its July 30 premiere. Baseball preemptions in some markets on the CW might see further adjustments later today.
