‘Dumb And Dumber’ Sequel Beef Heats Up; Producers Countersue “Unlawful And Unethical” Red Granite

Dumb And Dumber producers Brad Krevoy and Steve Stabler got personal in a countersuit filed today against Red Granite Pictures and its principals Joey McFarland and Riza Aziz. The pair are suing for compensation they claim they’re owed on the upcoming sequel Dumb And Dumber To, which is being prepped without their involvement by Red Granite who stepped in to back the project after WB fell out. Accusing McFarland and Aziz of “unlawful and unethical conduct,” Krevoy and Stabler’s suit asserts that they were wrongfully squeezed out of the sequel by the Red Granite camp and demand $400K they say they’re entitled to based on their initial contract with New Line.

But it gets juicier. “McFarland’s and [Aziz’s] misconduct and hubris will cause Red Granite to crash and burn,” continues the suit, questioning whether other talent on the project will want to work with the company. “Further, McFarland and [Aziz] lack the experience necessary to successfully produce motion pictures themselves. Although Red Granite apparently has family money from [Aziz], Red Granite will not succeed with money alone because McFarland and [Aziz]’s experience producing motion pictures during their short tenure in the industry consists of cavorting at nightclubs with Paris Hilton and making dinner reservations at posh nightclubs in New York and Los Angeles.”
