Obama Nominates HBO VP For Ambassador To Spain

As was widely expected, President Barack Obama today named James Costos as next Ambassador to Spain. The HBO VP of Global Licensing and Retail was a big bundler for Obama’s reelection campaign last year and co-hosted fundraisers in both LA and NYC along with his partner Michael Smith. Despite the big bucks Obama raised from Hollywood last year, Costos is the only industry member to be named to such a post so far. Another big Obama fundraiser Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour had been said to be angling to be named Ambassador to either her birth country of the United Kingdom or France but the Court of St. James post ended up going to other big money backer while the current rep in Paris, former Henson Company CEO Charles Rivkin, remains the same.
