RATINGS RAT RACE: Tony Awards Up From Last Year, NBA Game 2 Down

UPDATED: Popular Broadway shows and movie stars in the running and another standout host performance by Neil Patrick Harris resulted in double-digit ratings gains for the Tony Awards vs. last year’s all time lows. Last night’s telecast on CBS drew 7.24 million viewers, up 20% from 2012 and the largest audience since 2009. In adults 18-49, the show logged a 1.2 rating, also up 20%.

ABC dominated the night with Game 2 of the NBA Finals but posted a year-to-year drop. The game, in which Miami Heat defeated the Spurs to even the series at 1-1, drew a 10.2 overnight rating. That was down 14% from last year’s Game 2 between Heat and Oklahoma City, which also saw Heat pull even. Fox and NBC aired all repeats.
