David O Russell’s ‘American Hustle’ Halts Production Because Of Boston Manhunt

The David O. Russell film American Hustle has suspended production in Boston because of the manhunt for the 19-year-old Marathon bombing suspect. “The production is heeding the Governor’s request to remain indoors,” a SONY spokesperson told Deadline. Having started filming on March 8, the film returned to the Boston area on the evening of April 17 after several days in the Worcester area. American Hustle is scheduled to film in and around Boston through May. American Hustle appears to be the only film currently in production in Boston, but according to the Massachusetts Film Commission several recently wrapped, including Heat, Labor Day, The Makeover and Grown Ups 2. As for television, NBC had been filming its pilot Hatfields & McCoys in Boston but it had wrapped production about a week before the bombings.
