RATINGS RAT RACE: CBS' 'Jesse Stone' Original Movie & 'Amazing Race' Finale Low

How do you know that the original movie genre on broadcast TV is dead? When even its most reliable franchise, the Tom Selleck-starring Jesse Stone on CBS, tanks. The well-reviewed Jesse Stone: No Remorse (1.4/4 in adults 18-49, 11.4 million viewers overall) was down 36% in the demo from the last Jesse Stone movie on the network. CBS’ other original movie franchise, Hallmark Hall of Fame also recently plunged, with When Love Is Not Enough (1.2/3) dropping a whooping 43% from the previous one.

Jesse Stone’s lead-in, the finale of The Amazing Race (2.9/9), was pretty much flat from last week and ranked as the venerable reality franchise’s lowest-rated season finale.

NBC’s unscripted series swung in opposite directions. Minute to Win It (1.6/5) was down 16% week-to-week while Celebrity Apprentice (2.9/8) was up 12%. ABC’s lineup followed a similar pattern but stayed closer to last week’s results — Extreme Makeover: Home Edition (2.2/7)  was down 8%, Desperate Housewives (3.7/10) down 3% and Brothers & Sisters (2.6/7) was up 8%. Fox’s animated comedies Family Guy (3.8/10) and American Dad (2.9/8) gained 9% and 7%, respectively. ABC won the night in 18-49 (2.6/8), while CBS was tops in total viewers (11.1 million)
