RATINGS RAT RACE: ‘X Factor’ Finale Down From Season 1, ‘CMA Country Christmas’ Falls

Thursday saw The X Factor (3.1/9) wrapping its second season with country singer Tate Stevens declared the winner of a $5 million recording contract. Watched by 9.646 million viewers, the 8-10 PM live finale was up 29% from last Thursday’s show. However, like Wednesday’s performance finale, X Factor’s season-ender last night was down 18% from the 3.8/11 for its Season 1 finale December 22, 2011. Despite the boost expected from the addition of Britney Spears and Demi Lovato to the judges’ panel this year, X Factor found itself battered in the ratings during its second season. NBC’s The Voice, which went to its first fall season this year, drew a 4.9/13 for its two-hour Season 3 finale on Tuesday. Last night’s X Factor was not even the night’s most-watched show: An 8 PM repeat of The Big Bang Theory on CBS pulled in 10.923 million viewers.
