SAG-AFTRA Sets Feb. 14 For Commercials Contract Talks

SAG-AFTRA announced today that it would start talks on a new commercials contract on February 14. Although it likely won’t be a Valentine’s Day love-in when the National Executive Director David White and other union reps sit down in New York with representatives of the advertising industry, they will have a bit of time to work on their ongoing relationship: the current contract expires March 31. Union co-president Roberta Reardon leads the SAG-AFTRA negotiating committee. The talks had originally been set to start in the summer but the union said in late July it was cancelling the early bargaining due to “data challenges encountered during the Gross Ratings Point Pilot Project conducted pursuant to the 2009 Commercials Contract.”
