Elizabeth Banks To Produce Female Comedy For CBS, Duo Sell Romantic Comedy To Fox

EXCLUSIVE: 30 Rock co-star Elizabeth Banks is venturing into TV producing with an untitled comedy project at CBS. Written by another actress, Elizabeth Wright Shapiro, the comedy centers on an Ivy League feminist who comes to L.A to become an assistant professor and ends up moving in with two “Playboy Bunny” type females. While they seemingly have nothing in common, all three are striving to be modern empowered women but with very different ideas of how to achieve it. Banks will executive produce with her husband, Max Handelman; Shapiro will co-executive produce for 20th Century Fox TV. Banks and Shapiro worked together on the upcoming indie comedy Movie 43, which consists of multiple vignettes. Banks is one of the stars and directors, Shapiro wrote a segment. Shapiro is UTA and Industry; Banks and Handelman are with UTA and Untitled.

Michael & Michael Have Issues co-creator/director star Michael Showalter and Christina Lee have sold single-camera comedy My Boss Is My Roommate to Fox through Warner Bros. TV and Principato-Young Entertainment. The romantic comedy is about a new kind of odd couple: Robert, a brash and entitled boss, moves in with Kate, his reluctant but loyal employee, at a time when both of their lives are falling apart. Showalter and Lee are executive producing with Peter Principato and Paul Young. The project reunites Showalter and Lee with Fox and Warner Bros. TV where the two had multi-camera comedy spec I Hate Your Friends set up last year. (more…)
