Shine America Adds 2 Development Execs

Chris Culvenor has been named senior VP development at Shine America, and Christie McConnell has joined the company as VP development, CEO Carl Fennessy announced today. Culvenor joins Shine America from sibling Shine Australia and will oversee day-to-day unscripted development for the Los Angeles-based company. Culvenor, who sinced 2010 has overseen Shine Australia’s development and sale of TV programs and formats, will report to president Eden Gaha. McConnell will report to Culvenor.

During Culvenor’s time at Shine Australia, the company successfully launched Australian formats of such series as MasterChef, The Biggest Loser, The Voice Australia, Wag Nation, The Shire, Australia’s Next Top Model, Minute to Win It, The Renovators and Dating in the Dark. Prior to Shine Australia, Culvenor worked at FremantleMedia Australia.

McConnell joins Shine America from Stephen David Entertainment, where she served as VP development since 2010. She developed concepts for a variety of cable networks and brands including Bravo, Comedy Central, Food Network, Travel Channel, WE, Barnes & Noble, and Glamour, among others. McConnell most recently oversaw development on The Men Who Built America for History Channel, Extreme Cheapskates for TLC and RedRum for Investigation Discovery. McConnell has relocated to Los Angeles from New York City.
