Temple Hill Signs New Overall Deal With ABC Studios, Hires TV Development Exec

EXCLUSIVE: Wyck Godfrey and Marty Bowen’s Temple Hill Entertainment has signed a new two-year deal with ABC Studios and has hired former Entertainment One Television executive Larry Gilbert as SVP of Television.

Temple Hill, which produces the hugely successful Twilight movie franchise, moved into television two years ago with a pact at ABC Studios. Its first project under the deal was a contemporary take on The Count of Monte Cristo from a female perspective written by Mike Kelley. The project, titled Revenge, went to pilot, then series, and, after a breakout first season, has been awarded ABC’s marquee Sunday 9 PM slot for fall. “The experience has been one hell of a ride”, said Bowen who, along with Godfrey, serves as an executive producer on Revenge. “We’ve had an embarrassment of riches with a studio that supports it, a network that believes in it, network and studio heads that have embraced it from the beginning, and a showrunner who has done the impossible task of putting on a great show and maintaining the quality”.

The goal for Temple Hill’s development going forward is “to build on the success of Revenge and build on the company’s success in the feature world,” including bringing feature writers to television, said Gilbert. At eOne, Gilbert oversaw the US and international co-production series, including Hell on Wheels (AMC), Rookie Blue (ABC/Global), Haven (Syfy/Showcase/NBCU International), and the upcoming Rogue (DirecTV/HBO Canada). Prior to that, he was VP of TVn Development for Icon Prods. (more…)
