Comedy Central Greenlights Sketch Comedy Pilot Produced By Chris Rock

EXCLUSIVE: Comedy Central has given a pilot order to D-Raw, a sketch comedy show executive produced by Chris Rock and starring young comedian Deshawn Raw who described himself as, “Just a new comedian trying to make it out the hood with the team. So we don’t end up statistics.” The show is comprised of sketches featuring Deshawn and his diverse group of friends based on their personal experiences as they make fun of themselves and their lives in Rancho Cucamonga. The sketches include rap battles and the guys’ take on all things pop culture. The latter should be familiar to fans of DeShawn Raw who became a YouTube star with his Rap Battle videos. The first video in the series (below) has garnered 13.5 million viewers. Rap Battle Pt. 4 featuring Chris Rock (second video), has amassed 2.9 million. Rock and DeShawn Raw executive produce D-Raw with DeShawn Raw’s creative partner JP Minot, who will direct the pilot.

In addition to D-Raw, Rock also executive produces FX’s upcoming weekly late-night series Totally Biased with W. Kamau Bell. The series starring comedian W. Kamau Bell premieres on Aug. 9. Rock, Deshawn Raw and Minot are repped by ICM Partners.
