Greenlight Releasing Is A Go In Australia

Arclight Films’ Australia-based consultant Michael Wrenn has launched Greenlight Releasing, aiming to release 6-8 titles per year in Oz. Wrenn tells Deadline his new company will have a close relationship with Gary Hamilton’s sales outfit Arclight, which is headquartered in LA. Among Greenlight’s first releases will be Ivan Sen’s Mystery Road, a thriller about an indigenous cop that stars Aaron Pedersen, Hugo Weaving, Ryan Kwanten and Jack Thompson; and first-time director Sarah Spillane’s Around The Block, the saga of an American drama teacher and a troubled Aboriginal teenager starring Christina Ricci. Arclight is the international sales agent for both titles. Wrenn is an exec producer on Mystery Road and says he is developing a number of Australian films which would be routed via Greenlight. He previously worked in the UK with distributors Electric Pictures, Alliance Atlantis and Momentum and started consulting Arclight in May to help source Australian films. Greenlight will release some of Arclight’s back catalog titles on DVD in Australia.
