Producers Put Money Behind Ferrell Drama

Will_FerrellProduction begins this week in Arizona on Everything Must Go, a drama that marks the directing debut of writer Dan Rush. Will Ferrell, Rebecca Hall, Michael Pena will star with Christopher Wallace (son of hip hop icon Notorious B.I.G.), and Laura Dern is negotiating. michael-pena-ethan-millerWorth noting is that this project became a reality when its producers–Temple Hill partners and Twilight producers Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey–committed to put up the equity financing themselves. Rush based the script on a Raymond Carver short story, with Ferrell playing a recovering alcoholic who relapses on a business trip, gets fired from his job, and thrown out by his angry wife. When she deposits his belongings on the lawn, he vows to live on the lawn until he can sell everything. Stuart Ford’s IM Global is brokering offshore territories and ICM/CAA will sell domestic rights. An under $10 million film with that cast seems a manageable risk.
