Weinstein Company Dates Trio Of Animated Pics For 2013

Weinstein Company Release SlateBREAKING: The Weinstein Company, which has already set Escape From Planet Earth for February 14, has dated three more animated films on its 2013 slate. TWC co-chairman Harvey Weinstein has set an August 30, 2013 release for Leo The Lion, an October 25, 2013 date for The Trick Or Treaters, and a December 6, 2013 release date for Santapprentice. Said Weinstein, “Following the success of The Lorax, Rango and the continued achievements of some of the industry’s most successful animated filmmakers, we are producing animation with comedic stories that the entire family can enjoy. Escape From Planet Earth already boasts a great cast including Sarah Jessica Parker, Jessica Alba, Brendan Fraser, James Gandolfini, Craig Robinson and Rob Corddry. We will be utilizing all of our relationships with top talent across the board to deliver the appropriate comedic tone and entertainment.”

In Escape From Planet Earth, made in association with GRF, astronaut Scorch Supernova finds himself caught in a trap when he responds to an SOS from a notoriously dangerous alien planet. Leo The Lion is the story of a young vegetarian lion who is seen as an outcast among his fellow lions. The Trick Or Treaters is a tale of villains pilfering from the countryside until they are charmed by a young orphan girl, and Santapprentice tells the story of a young orphan who is chosen to replace Santa when he retires.
