Krysten Ritter/Eric Garcia Drama 'Finishing School For Boys' Gets Pilot Order At MTV

EXCLUSIVE: MTV has handed a pilot pickup to Cassandra French’s Finishing School For Boys, a drama from actress Krysten Ritter and writer Eric Garcia based on Garcia’s novel of the same name. Garcia (Matchstick Men) wrote the adaptation, described as being in the tone of Heathers. It centers on Cassie French, a 22-year-old overachiever who gets her dream job as a lawyer for a Hollywood studio but can’t find a guy ready for a real, mature relationship. After the latest disappointment, she locks a guy up in her basement in order to train him to become the perfect gentleman. Ritter and Garcia are executive producing Finishing School For Boys, which was the first TV project Ritter ever sold as a producer. She next stars in of ABC’s midseason comedy series Don’t Trust The B—- In Apartment 23, which premieres April 11. Two days later, indie Life Happens which Ritter co-wrote, produced and stars in, will being released. She is with WME, the Group Entertainment & Sanders/Armstrong/Caserta. Garcia, repped by WME and IPG, is writing Wheel Of Time for Universal and The Prize Of Peril for Sony.

MTV has been aggressive in expanding its scripted series slate recently. The network has two scripted shows, Teen Wolf and Awkward, set to return in the summer, and another, freshman I Just Want My Pants Back, looking good be renewed with solid ratings on Thursday nights.
