Ratings Rat Race: 'Cougar Town' Stumbles, 'River' & 'Ringer' Dive On Slow Holiday Night

Valentine’s Day-related festivities took an expected toll on ratings last night, with television usage from 8-10 PM down 7.3% from last week. But the declines were far steeper for ABC’s The River and Body Of Proof, Fox’s Glee, NBC’s The Biggest Loser and the CW’s Ringer. In Week 2, thriller The River (1.7/4) was down 29% from its premiere last Tuesday. Its lead-in, the long-delayed third season premiere of Cougar Town (1.8/5) was low as in series low. It dropped from its own lead-in, Last Man Standing (2.2/7, down only a tenth from last week) and was down 47% from its second season debut behind Modern Family. At 10 PM, Body Of Proof returned from a four-week hiatus to a series low 1.2/3.

Gree‘s Valentine’s Day-themed episode (2.8/8) was down 15% from last week. New Girl (3.2/8) held up better, down 9%, while Raising Hope (2.1/5) was flat. NBC’s The Biggest Loser (2.0/6) was down 13% from last week for a season low, while Parenthood (1.6/4) was flat, tying its series low. The CW’s Ringer (0.3/1) suffered the steepest decline, down 40% from last week.

CBS was once again bulletproof. NCIS (3.9/11) was down 7% from its 200th episode last week, while NCIS: LA (3.2/8) and Unforgettable (2.3/6) were actually up, by 3% and 5%, respectively.
