Discovery Communications has appointed Andrew Warren senior executive vice president and chief financial officer. Warren will join Discovery on March 26. He succeeds Brad Singer who announced last year he would be leaving at the end of March. Warren’s executive portfolio includes oversight of Discovery’s Media Technology, Production & Operations division. He also will be involved with Discovery’s joint ventures OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network, The Hub and 3net. CSS Studios, Discovery’s creative post-production sound services company, also will report to Warren. He most recently was CFO at Liz Claiborne and before that served as EVP and CFO of the NBC Universal Television Group and in other capacities during a long stint at GE.
Several other changes take effect immediately at Discovery as part of an overall restructuring and the elimination of the chief operating officer position following the departure last year of Peter Liguori. David Leavy has been promoted to chief communications officer and senior EVP corporate marketing and affairs. He reports to Discovery president/CDO David Zaslav. Chief development officer and general counsel Bruce Campbell adds business affairs and global production management to his portfolio, with Lee Bartlett, EVP global production management and business affairs, reporting to him. Campbell also will work with Bartlett to attract top producers and on-air talent for Discovery’s networks. (more…)
