Cable Bits: MTV Moves 'Death Valley', BET Scores With Hip Hop Awards, 'Reed' Debut

MTV has rejiggered its Monday lineup, swapping new scripted zombie comedy Death Valley and unscripted series Cuff’d. Starting next week, Death Valley is moving to 11 PM, while Cuff’d will shift to 10:30 PM. The move is designed to take the male-skewing Death Valley away from the cross-hairs of Monday Night Football.

BET’s Hip Hop Awards 2011 last night drew 4.1 million viewers, the largest audience ever for the franchise on the cable network. In adults, the show was up 16% from last year. The Hip Hop Awards served as a launching pad for BET’s new sitcom, Reed Between The Lines, which opened with two back-to-back episodes averaging 3.3 million and 2.9 million, respectively. That was below the big January debuts of The Game (7.7 million) and Let’s Stay Together (4.4 million) but still very respectable.
