Showtime Taps Feature Executive Amy Israel As SVP Original Programming

Film executive Amy Israel has joined Showtime as SVP Original Programming. She will be responsible for the development and creative oversight of new original series, reporting to EVP original programming Gary Levine. “As more and more film actors, writers, directors and producers want to work at Showtime, it makes perfect sense to hire a creative exec from the feature world,” said Levine. This is becoming a trend among pay cable networks, who increasingly bring in feature heavyweights to their lineups. Just last month, HBO tapped feature executive Michael Ellenberg to lead the net’s drama department as SVP, HBO Entertainment. Israel most recently executive produced Andrew Niccol’s upcoming film In Time, which stars Justin Timberlake, Amanda Seyfried and Olivia Wilde. Before that, she served as EVP Production for New Regency, where she oversaw a slate of projects including RFK, Mother Trucker and Mr. Romance. (more…)
