TV BITS: Giancarlo Esposito To Join ABC Series, Howie Mandel To Produce Reality Format, Ben Silverman To Publish Comic

Breaking Bad co-star Giancarlo Esposito has joined the new ABC drama series Once Upon a Time in a major recurring role. He will play Sidney/The Magic Mirror. In Storybrooke, he is Sidney: a reporter for the local newspaper The Daily Mirror. In Fairy Tale Land, he is the vaporous visage trapped within the Evil Queen’s Magic Mirror who is always truthful. Esposito, repped by Domain and Prinicpal Entertainment, will next be seen opposite Tyler Perry in I, Alex Cross.

Howie Mandel has partnered with Banijay Group’ Angel City Factory to develop and produce a US version of the Banijay Group comedy format Celebrity Stand-Up, in which celebrities reveal their personal experiences in order to create an original stand-up act and then battle each other.

Ben Silverman‘s Electus has teamed with BOOM! Studios to publish Fanboys vs. Zombies, a comic book set at Comic-Con, which becomes zombie ground zero and has to be saved by the geeks descending on the city for the convention. The plan is to try and spin off the property into TV series or a movie.
