RATINGS RAT RACE: Game 7 Of Stanley Cup Final Most Watched NHL Game in 38 Years

UPDATE PM: With the final ratings in, Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final drew 8.54 million viewers to become the most watched NHL game in 38 years. It was up 3% from last year’s deciding Game 6 and up 7% from 2009’s Game 7.

PREVIOUS AM: Hockey and dance were the choices for original programming last night. NBC is poised to win Wednesday in adults 18-49 and total viewers with Game 7 of the NHL Stanley Cup Final. In not-time-zone-adjusted fast nationals, the decider won by the Boston Bruins drew a 3.2/9 in 18-49 and 8.1 total million viewers for the primetime portion of the game, with the numbers expected to rise in the finals. The Bruins-Vancouver Canucks faceoff is on track to outpace the previous Stanley Cup Game 7 in 2009, which posted a 3.0 fast national demo rating, which was adjusted up to 3.4 in the finals.

Fox’s So You Think You Can Dance (2.6/8 in 18-49, 7.4 million viewers) was down 7% from last Wednesday’s Hollywood round and up 4% from the Thursday Meet the Top 20 episode. Fox finished the night second in both 18-49 and total viewers. ABC and CBS aired all reruns.
