It's Official: Tal Rabinowitz Named Head Of Comedy At NBC

Is Tal Rabinowitz replacing Jeff Ingold as head of comedy at NBC?
As expected, NBC today named Sony Pictures TV’s SVP comedy Tal Rabinowitz as the network’s new head of comedy. Rabinowitz, who has been named EVP comedy programming, succeeds EVP Jeff Ingold, whose last day was yesterday. She starts in June. The appointment is expected to be the first of several at NBC as entertainment chairman Bob Greenblatt focuses on rebuilding his top management team post-upfronts as previously planned. Most recent speculation has focused on the marketing department and its head Adam Stotsky, but there is nothing official. NBC has six new comedy series on its schedule for next season, the most of any network. Here is NBC’s release on Rabinowitz:

UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. – NBC has named Tal Rabinowitz as Executive Vice President, Comedy Programming, NBC Entertainment, it was announced today by Bob Greenblatt, Chairman, NBC Entertainment. Rabinowitz previously was Senior Vice President of Comedy Development and Digital Programming for Sony Pictures Television.  She will replace Jeff Ingold, Executive Vice President, Comedy Programming, NBC Entertainment and Universal Media Studios, who is departing the company. “In working closely with Tal over the past few years, I found her to be one of the smartest, brightest comedy executives in the business who is also universally embraced by writers, producers, agents, and talent,” said Greenblatt.  “She is exactly the kind of creative executive to guide our comedy development as we plot the future of NBC.” (more…)
