‘The Neighborhood’ & ‘Bob ♥ Abishola

CBS’ Monday night comedy block of The Neighborhood and Bob ♥ Abishola is coming back for another run after the network renewed the pair.

The Neighborhood will return for a fourth season. and Bob ♥ Abishola will be back for a third season. They mark the first scripted renewals of the season for CBS, which last month picked up summer reality series Love Island for a third season.

“We’re extremely proud of these two comedies and delighted to bring them back next season,” said Thom Sherman, Senior EVP Programming at CBS Entertainment. “The Neighborhood and Bob ♥ Abishola masterfully blend humor with relatable and culturally relevant storylines, and are tremendous, successful Monday night anchors.”

Next up, the network will be looking at its Thursday night comedy block, largely run by Chuck Lorre.

Young Sheldon and Mom are both in the last year of their bumper two-season renewals. In February 2019, Young Sheldon was renewed for Seasons 3 and 4, and the fourth season launched in November. The same month, Mom was handed a two-season renewal with Anna Faris and Allison Janney renewing their deals. However, Faris left the show ahead of its eighth season.

New comedy B Positive, starring Thomas Middleditch and Annaleigh Ashford, was the network’s first new show of the 2020-21 season to air, and was handed a five-episode back order in December, taking its first season to 18 episodes.

It will be joined by United States of Al, starring Adhir Kalyan and Parker Young, on April 1.

CBS also needs to make a decision on Walton Goggins-fronted comedy The Unicorn, which premiered its 13-episode second season in November and also airs on Thursday night

The Neighborhood stars Cedric the Entertainer, Max Greenfield, Beth Behrs, Tichina Arnold, Sheaun McKinney, Marcel Spears and Hank Greenspan. Executive producers are Jim Reynolds, Aaron Kaplan, Dana Honor, Wendi Trilling, Cedric the Entertainer and Eric Rhone. The series is produced by CBS Studios.

Bob ♥ Abishola stars Billy Gardell, Folake Olowofoyeku, Christine Ebersole, Matt Jones, Maribeth Monroe, Vernee Watson, Shola Adewusi, Barry Shabaka Henley, Travis Wolfe, Jr., Gina Yashere, Bayo Akinfemi and Anthony Okungbowa. The executive producers are Lorre, Al Higgins and Beth McCarthy Miller. Gina Yashere is co-executive producer and writer. The series is produced by Chuck Lorre Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television.
