UPDATED, April 22: Just over a week after CNN’s Chris Cuomo announced that his wife Christina was diagnosed with COVID-19, Christina posted a heartfelt message revealing that their 14-year-old son, Mario, has also come down with the virus.

The CNN host, who had been documenting his own battle with COVID on Cuomo Prime Time each night, only recently emerged from his basement sequester to reunite with his family, which also includes daughters Bella, 17, and Carolina, 11.

“My heart hurts more than my head over his infection,” Christina wrote. “While kids are more resilient, they can suffer [the] same severity of symptoms. I’m applying a modified version of my remedies for his protocol with a focus on lots of vitamins.”

In addition to vitamins, Christina also applied some home cooking.

“Since his sense of smell and taste have disappeared,” Christina wrote, “I am feeding him healthy foods that I normally can’t get him to touch.”

On this 50th anniversary of Earth Day, show kindness toward our planet and every creature who inhabits it, as the transcendent photographer, adventurer, preservationist and raconteur Peter Beard advised us. My old friend’s recent death offers an eerily timely punctuation on this virus and a reminder that we can’t forget to protect one another, and the animals that roam the Earth. 🌏🌏🌏 This virus has created a different version of me. My hope is to be stronger, healthier, smarter about the virus at large. 💙💙💙After 10 days of ups and downs, feeling good one-day and terrible the next, I am now working toward getting my son, Mario, through the virus. My heart hurts more than my head over his infection. This virus does not discriminate. While kids are more resilient, they can suffer same severity of symptoms. I’m applying a modified version of my remedies for his protocol with a focus on lots of vitamins. Since his sense of smell and taste have disappeared, I am feeding him healthy foods that I normally can’t get him to touch. I kept a diary of the past week of my road to recovery. 🙏 Link in bio, as they say.

As Chris Cuomo signed off on Cuomo Prime Time on Wednesday, he addressed his son’s status, saying, “He’s okay. Got the same deal that Christina had.”

The CNN host was reflective about the entire process.

“This is how it works in families,” he said, before noting that he and Christina were taking it, “One day at a time.”

PREVIOUSLY: Chris Cuomo, who has been in quarantine after testing positive for coronavirus, said that his wife Christina now has been diagnosed with the virus as well.

“Cristina now has COVID,” Cuomo said on Cuomo Prime Time on Wednesday. “She is now positive, and it just breaks my heart because it is the one thing I was hoping wouldn’t happen and now it has.”

Cuomo revealed his wife’s diagnosis while speaking to his brother, New York governor Andrew Cuomo.

“Look, it is something we talked about when this first started. It is very for a person to quarantine in a home and other people not to get infected,” Andrew Cuomo said. He said that it can spread as simply as a family member passing dishes to an infected person without having close contact.

Since he revealed that he had coronavirus on March 31, Cuomo has continued to do his CNN show as well as a daily broadcast for SiriusXM’s POTUS Channel. He has been in quarantine in his basement, doing the shows remotely, whole his family has been living in another part of the house.

Earlier this week, George Stephanopoulos, the anchor of Good Morning America, revealed that he had tested positive for coronavirus, as he has been caring for his wife, Ali Wentworth, who tested positive earlier this month.
