CBS Moves ‘Amazing Race’ Premiere Up A Month, Bumps ‘Million Dollar Mile’ To Saturdays

CBS

Season 31 of The Amazing Race will leave the starting line more than a month earlier than scheduled. CBS said today that the new iteration will premiere at 9 PM Wednesday, April 17; it had been set for May 22. With that move, the network has banished LeBron James’ Million Dollar Mile from its Wednesday timeslot to Saturdays after just two episodes. CBS will air a repeat of NCIS in Million Dollar Mile’s timeslot next week.

Million Dollar Mile will air the remaining eight episodes of its 10-episode season on Saturdays beginning May 4, at 8 PM with Ransom moving back an hour to 9 PM.

The move comes after Million Dollar Mile premiered to soft ratings. It opened with a 1.0/4 rating and 4.1 million viewers in its debut episode, declining to 0.8/4 and 3.4 million viewers in week 2.

The network also released a sneak peek at the upcoming season, which comes with a twist: It will match teams of fan-favorite racers alongside duos from Survivor and Big Brother in a “reality showdown.” Watch the clip below.
