‘Fast & Furious 9’ Drives Into Summer 2020
Universal has just announced that Fast & Furious 9 (still to be titled) will drive from its Easter weekend April 10, 2020 release date to May 22, 2020, which is Memorial Day weekend. Taking over F&F 9‘s spot is MGM’s Bond 25, which just moved from its Feb. 14, 2020 date to the Wednesday before Easter next year on April 8.
Fast & Furious 9 parks itself next to Warner Bros./Legendary’s Godzilla vs. Kong, and Paramount’s The Spongebob Movie over the Memorial Day period. This will give F&F9 a four-day launch and summer play-ability, plus a better cash grab in China as Easter weekend will be filled with Bond and potentially other titles that are out at that time abroad, i.e. an untitled WB/DC movie and Disney’s Mulan (neither has staked out Middle Kingdom release dates yet).
