CBS is staying in its procedural wheelhouse with pilot orders to medical drama Under the Bridge, from Mistresses executive producer Rina Mimoun and Jerry Bruckheimer TV, and police drama Nancy, from the Bull team of co-creator Paul Attanasio and producer Amblin TV. This marks a return to the cop beat for Attanasio, who created Homicide: Life on the Street. Both pilots hail from CBS TV Studios, which produces Bull and where JBTV and Mimoun are under an overall deals.

In Under the Bridge, penned by Mimoun, when a scandal rocks the medical practice she runs with her husband and their friends, a surgeon rises to the occasion and takes the lead in trying to mend both the practice and her own marriage.

Mimoun executive produces with JBTV’s Jerry Bruckheimer, Jonathan Littman and KristieAnne Reed.

In Nancy, penned by Attanasio, when a former high-ranking NYPD officer becomes the first female Chief of Police for Los Angeles, she uses her unflinching honesty and hardball tactics to navigate the social, political and national-security issues that converge with enforcing the law.

Attanasio executive produces will fellow Bull exec producers Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey of Amblin TV.

Nancy echoes another female-driven cop drama that CBS developed last year. Chiefs, which came from Sony TV, explored the professional and personal lives of three women who are each Chiefs of Police of their own precincts in L.A. County. The project went to pilot starring Jorja Fox, Alana De La Garza and Aunjanue Ellis.

There has been a real-life impetus for the projects — as of last year, there were seven female police chiefs in Los Angeles County, an all-time high.

Under the Bridge and Nancy join two other CBS drama pilots, Surveillance and Evil.
