Turner Latin America Scores Soccer Drama From ‘All Or Nothing: Manchester City’ Producer Mediapro – NATPE

Turner Latin America is kicking off a drama about a female soccer team after striking a deal with The Young Pope co-producer Mediapro.

The pay-TV broadcaster has commissioned Las Bravas F.C from the Spanish production company, which recently produced All or Nothing: Manchester City for Amazon. The show, which was created by Enrique Pérez (Noobees) and written by José Javier Reguilón (Vis a Vis), Luis Gamboa (Ingobernable) and Paula Rendón (Impresentables).

The show, which consists of eight 45 minute episodes, follows the Las Bravas team, who must overcome difficulties to win the regional championship. It follows Roberto Velarde, a former world-class Mexican football player, who was forced into retirement because of a heart condition and after losing a bet becomes the team’s coach.

It is the first show to emerge from a five-year deal between the two companies and comes on the eve of Natpe, which kicks off in Miami.

Las Bravas F.C. is the first of many projects we will develop along with Mediapro, as part of a strategic alliance established last year. We trust that this new story –where the world of football is seen from a female perspective- will continue to fill our multiple screens with original content that our various audiences will find relevant,” said Tomás Yankelevich, EVP & Chief Content Officer, General Entertainment at Turner Latin America.

Laura Fernández Espeso, International Contents Director at Mediapro, said, “After a year working together, we are honored to announce the launching of the first product to come out of our agreement with Turner, a very important strategic partner for Mediapro. Turner’s expertise and professionalism in the field of content has made for a very interesting development process when working on Las Bravas. The series was originally created by Spanish talents, which comes to show that the synergies established between our offices in Europe and Latin America are producing great results”.

Daniel Burman, Head of Content at Mediapro US, added, “We feel privileged to work on a project like Las Bravas, with a team of very talented people that I admire, including Flipy, who has brought an extraordinary story that is individual yet universal. We trust this story will enable us to reach a global audience, with the help of a perfect ally such as Turner, a company that shares our vision and passion for the project”.
