This shows that Lionsgate has plenty of confidence in the film, and is playing it not only closer to SXSW, but also putting it on the weekend following Disney/Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame. On its new date, the Rogen-Theron comedy will share the marquee with such wide entries as STX’s UglyDolls movie and Screen Gems’ thriller The Intruder.
The Theron-Rogen comedy centers on an ambitious diplomat with a spotless reputation and a hard-partying journalist as they redefine “international relations” and try to keep their red-hot romance under wraps. Jonathan Levine directs from Dan Sterling’s screenplay. O’Shea Jackson Jr., Andy Serkis, June Diane Raphael, Ravi Patel and Alexander Skarsgård also star.
