Danny Glover Set For Sony’s ‘Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle’ Sequel

Lethal Weapon alum Danny Glover has been added to the cast of the Jake Kasdan-directed Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle sequel joining original stars Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart, and Karen Gillan. Awkwafina and Danny DeVito were previously announced as part of the cast for Sony’s next installment, which is slated to bow in theaters December 13.

The studio is remaining mum on the plotline for the sequel as well as Glover’s character. Kasdan co-wrote the screenplay with Scott Rosenberg and Jeff Pinkner. Matt Tolmach, Johnson, Dany Garcia, and Hiram Garcia of Seven Bucks Productions, and Kasdan are returning as producers on the project.

Last seen on the big screen opposite Robert Redford in David Lowery’s The Old Man & the Gun, Glover next appears in A24’s The Last Black Man in San Francisco, which is slated to premiere at the Sundance Film Festival this month. He also served as an executive producer of Hale County This Morning This Evening, a documentary that follows the lives of African Americans in Hale County, Alabama. The Sundance award-winning doc recently picked up an Independent Spirit Award nomination for best documentary feature.

Glover is repped by Gersh and Principal Entertainment.
