LAPD Downtown HQ Resumes Operations After Suspicious Package Prompted Evacuation – Update


UPDATED with packaged cleared: The Los Angeles Police Department’s downtown headquarters was briefly evacuated Thursday night after a suspicious package turned up in the mail room. A HazMat unit was called in to investigate a suspicious envelope containing a powdery substance, the LAPD said.

It was later determined to be safe, and the area re-opened soon after to normal operations.

The building is at 1st and Main Street downtown. No other buildings nearby were affected be the evacuation.
